My Hong Kong Legends / Cine Asia / Dragon Dynasty DVDs and Blurays
Close up : A few doubles I've picked up along the way (travels) I just couldn't resist seeing these beauties without a home. ;) |
My Collection of Premier Asia / Contender / CineAsia |
My HKL Boxsets and Miscellaneous Kung Fu flicks NOTE: a pre-HKL copy of Drive with Mark Dacascos and 2 Steelbook Copies of A Better Tomorrow - 2 Disc Ultimate Edition (Limited Steelbook) and Death List (Platinum Edition) by Arai Paiaya which has a one of the few Bey Logan commentaries he did outside of HKL/Showbox/Dragon Dynasty. also note Two DeAgostini HKL titles : 1. Jackie Chan: My Story/My Stunts and 2. Skinny Tiger, Fatty Dragon which are bare bones crap with no extras released with an accompanied Hong Kong Legends magazine. I however got these monstrosities to the name of HKL by accident when I ordered the Original title from Amazon sellers who mistakenly sent me these crappy DeAgostini versions. I couldn't be bothered the hassle of sending them back, so kept them :( |
More Non -HKL discs by Jet Li, Jackie Chan, Stephen Chow, Andy Lau and Chow Yun Fat among others. |
My CineAsia Presents Dragon Dynasty Collection : Among my faves are the Ip Man films, Dragon Tiger Gate and Kill Zone by Donnie Yen, Amazing Korean war film 71 into the Fire, Dragon Dynasty (Region 1) version of The Protector (aka Tom Yum Goong/ Warrior King) by Tony Jaa and Fist of Legend by Jet Li |
More Non HKL but a few Cine Asia titles Note : Even A few discs of the now defunct HD-DVD species ie Planet Earth, Matrix Trilogy, Serenity Hot Fuzz and Enter the Dragon lol !! Call me crazy for having these I know I know ;) I got them for a few pence each at my local Computer Exchange(CEX) store so I couldn't complain. Sorry but I'm a Manchester United fan hence the dvd and bluray season reviews |
More of my Cine Asia Titles including Heroes Shed No Tears, New Police Story, New Fist of Fury, John Woo's Hand Of Death and Once Upon a Time In China 2 by Jet Li |
Hope you like my collection of DVDs and Blurays please leave any comments below, SHARE and check out the links under the pics to grow your own collection of HKL DVDs.
Thanks and I'll be back soon with some more stuff soon.

My first taste of the Pre-Digital Kung fu Era
I grew up on the staple of Jackie Chan movies in the eighties with the Armour of God, Project A and Meals on Wheels among my favourites.
And like so many others living in the UK at that time we watched in awe as the likes of Jackie, Sammo and Yuen Biao gave villainous characters of Dick Wei and Wang Jang Lee a good kicking around the room (or field lol).
Even with the poor quality pirated prints on VHS watched on a box TV 4:3 format far from the wondrous high def prints we watch online or on our BluRay players and HDTV's were perfect for our young eyes.

Here you go the final fight sequence of Armour Of God which features Jackie and 4 very willing but vicious ladies looking to chop off Mr Chan's Crown Jewel with their High Heels.

Hello Kung Fu World !!
Hello this is my new blog about my fascination and love for Hong Kong Legends DVD's !!
Hong Kong Legends or HKL by beloved fans, were THE premier company making the best in Hong Kong Cinema to our fans in the UK and the world over.
Giving all the Old Skool classics from yesteryear a good brush up and released on to brand spanking new digital quality DVD optical discs which are now on the wane but were the best way to watch all your old favourites as well as new movies.
Sadly for us martial arts fans Hong Kong Legends went bust a few years ago but went through several rebrandings and different iterations of classics movies which most of us fans just lapped up even if we had the same movie already from a few years before.
A few titles got the new High Definition treatment onto BluRay disc but again worryingly and to the dismay of the fans only the newer titles under the Cine-Asia brand which rose from HKL's ashes got the privilege.
In the USA HKL was rebranded and sold as Dragon Dynasty which as few titles got the BluRay releases but again the company went under a few years later even with the might and money of the Weinstein Company couldnt help our favourite films from being shelved as the US market for Martial Arts movies like the one in the UK died a premature death.
But not to worry we still have the great memories so I'll be exploring the timeless cult hits from Bruce Lee to the Wacky comedies from Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, not forgetting the likes of Michelle Yeoh, Jet Li, Cynthia Khan, Donnie Yen and Yuen Biao among many more.
.....Oh yeah not forgetting our favourite Audio Commentator/Brainiac/Genius and Hong Kong Cinema Expert Bey Logan who made the DVD's so much much more with all the wealth of information in his head.
See you soon guys and gals :)
